What is Brazilian Cherry:
Brazilian cherry is actually a misnomer. The species Hymenaea courbaril (local name: Jatoba or Guapinol) is a tree that grows in Central and South America. It is a hardwood and is used for furniture, flooring and cabinetry, though it is not a cherry tree. Other names for the Jatoba include: Brazilian Copal, Souther American Locust and of course Brazilian Cherry. The tree was popularized in the film Jurassic park, it produces a sticky resin that turns to hard amber over millions of years. The tree has in fact helped scientists understand prehistoric earth.
