Prior to embarking on a blog for our online furniture store we thought long and hard about the overall benefits. You see we didn't want to just "start another blog" the webosphere is chalk full of content... we aren't interested in adding to the junk. There are tangible benefits to running a store blog. The obvious benefits include:
To most retail establishments the part about the search engine visibility and the traffic to the store would stand out as the most important. For us, there isn't enough value in "traffic" to build monotonous, built-for-search blog articles. This realization, could be the most important moment that our management team had while brainstorming the store's blog ideas. You see, without respect for the importance of maintaining a blog in the interest of brand and user engagement, we could easily fall into the trap of creating useless, promotional, built-for-search blog entries.
First, you'll find our blog pages sprinkled throughout the site, incorporated into products, categories and well, on the blog itself. Our reason for being is to answer consumer questions that arise while researching, searching or buying furniture (online or offline). We also dabble into simple interior decorating and interior design elements (though it should be noted that our main purpose is in relation to furnishings.) Ultimately our goal is to translate the knowledge that we've accumulated with over 30 years in the industry... and countless hours dealing with and interacting with consumers, suppliers... offline and online.
Here is a short list of subjects that you won't find on our blog:
At Furniture From Home we are primarily furniture people. When we hire, we hire furniture industry professionals that have been involved in the furniture industry most of their professional careers. Our "writers" are not actual freelance writers... we are professionals in the furniture industry. By maintaining a staff written blog we ensure that the information being represented is coming directly from "the horses mouth" so to speak. The only potential downfall being that you, intelligent and successful reader, may find that from time to time there are obvious grammatical errors in our blog. Please be patient with us and understand that we are writing from the perspective of a furniture industry buff and not as a writer.
