The transitional style of this collection goes well with both traditional and contemporary decor. The heavy, sturdy look and feel of the desk may match better with a more traditional decor. The home office set has a medium to medium heavy distressing, including burnt edges; gouge marks; rub through and artistically placed worm holes and natural defects; the distressing gives this desk an old world look and feel.

I've seen thousands of home office collections. I may be partial to this collection because of it's decidedly masculine look... or it's distressing, which I love, though I must admit the overall look and feel of this desk is impressive. When I open the drawers it feels strong and sturdy, unlike many drawers which seem flimsy and weak. When I run my hands over the finish and the wood, it feels supple and strong, not like the finish is going to flake off or scratch after each use. When I sit at the desk, I appreciate that it was designed with a pullout tray for my CPU, so I don't have to hunch over to reach behind the CPU and plug things in... I simply pull out the tray and CPU comes with it. I appreciate the attractive and high quality, built-in AC adapter that is included with this desk. I love that the drop down keyboard drawer is lined with a highly resistant and attractive material, as if this desk was meant to be used for years and years! Overall, I was impressed with this desk. I think it's well designed; thoughtfully put together and a desk that while more "expensive" than many other that are out there, a GREAT value for what you are getting!
Color and Distressing Guide:
It's not always easy to buy furniture without actually seeing the finish. There is a always a little bit of the unknown to be had! On this product we recommend erring on the side of being slightly darker than portrayed. Also, please note that the desk has a very elegant, very high end medium to heavy distressing which gives the desk an aged old-world look.

Notable Design Features:
There truly is a lot to talk about when it comes down to notable design features of this collection. For starters, the things that you can't necessarily see in the images include: nice, solid locking mechanisms in all of the file drawers. This is notable because in so many home office collections that "look nice" the locking mechanism is, for lack of a better word, no good. Concave design on the drawer fronts of the credenza desk and executive desk. This isa hard to decipher via images but in person it looks very impressive and is a fairly unique design element to this particular collection. The sheer size of the credenza hutch doors is impressive. These oversized doors really dramatize the large, heavy look of this collection and make this product very impressive. Take a look at the zoom images and specifically at the glass door fronts, they are outlined with a very pretty metal design... giving this handsome desk a very feminine touch without getting out of character with too ornate of scroll work.
